An illegal electric fence
This is a very sad outcome for that island. Only few of these precious wild elephants are left alive there. Loss of every single wild elephant is a massive loss. The root cause of the problem is as simple as the growing human population in small islands and the people having to struggle and even kill native animals like this to protect their farms and houses.
